Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills volleyball team sent retiring coach Terry Carlson out in style in his final home match, sweeping visiting Marshalltown CC at the Net Center on Wednesday night.
Carlson, who was honored in a ceremony at the conclusion of the match, saw his squad polish off the Tigers in three sets, winning 25-20, 25-12 and 25-18.
It was also Sophomore Night for the Warriors and the three sophs all played a key part in the Warriors' 21st win of the season.
One of the sophomores, Carly Wehling, led IHCC with 10 kills and she added nine digs. Classmate Kelsey Wagner had eight kills and five blocks, including three straight blocks in the second set. The other soph, Erin Mosinski, recorded six kills and two digs.
Freshman Emily Eswonia also came up big for IHCC with seven kills and a team-high 20 digs.
The Warriors now head to Council Bluffs this weekend for the District D tournament. They open with pool play on Saturday, taking on both Lake Land and John A. Logan. The championship match is slated for Sunday.
