Canton, MO -- After a three-set sweep over the Culver-Stockton junior varsity, Indian Hills lost a five-set battle to East Central (MO) on Tuesday.
The Warriors rolled over Culver-Stockton, winning by scores of 25-16, 25-13 and 25-18. But they couldn't close out the next match, letting a two sets-to-one lead slip away.
East Central, coached by former IHCC assistant Lisa Mathes-Peters, won the fourth set, 25-21, to even the match at two sets apieca, then took the deciding set, 15-13.
The loss snapped the Warriors' three-match winning streak and left them with a season record of 13-9.
The Warriors were down 14-7 in the fifth set with East Central. Sophomore Kelsey Lyon got IHCC back in contention, serving five straight points. But East Central won the next point and the match.
Against Culver-Stockton, soph Kelsey Wagner pounded 13 kills and sophomore Carly Wehling had eight ace serves and seven digs.
In the second match, Wehling and freshman Emily Eswonia led the team with 11 kills each and Wehling and freshman Jessi Black both had 16 digs. Soph Kelsey Wagner had four blocks in each match.
The Warriors host DMACC at the Net Center on Thursday night at 7:00.
