Cedar Rapids, IA -- A win over third-ranked DMACC highlighted Indian Hills' performance in the Kirkwood CC Invitational, with the Warriors winning three of four matches.
IHCC (12-2) also took down McHenry (IL) CC and East Central (MO) CC in the tourney while losing to Parkland (IL) CC, a team rated 13th in NJCAA Division II.
The 3-0 win against DMACC (25-18, 25-22, 25-19) came in the Warriors' opening match of the tourney. Carla Novaes, Peyton Crosser and Shelby Lauterbach each had 10 kills to lead IHCC's net play. Jessica Black had 16 digs and Ailime deFreitas 41 assists.
In the Parkland match, Crosser led the team with seven kills and Novaes had three ace serves.
IHCC swept the two Saturday matches, against McHenry and East Central, without losing a set. Novaes and Crosser had nine kills against McHenry and Crosser added 10 more in the East Central metch. Black had a total of 30 digs.
The Warriors head to Boone to play DMACC on Tuesday night.
