Revenge! Warriors Dump Iowa Central

Ottumwa -- Indian Hills avenged an early-season loss with a resounding 3-0 sweep over Iowa Central CC in the Warriors' home opener at the Net Center on Tuesday night.

In its second match of the season, in the season-opening tournament at Southeastern CC, Indian Hills lost to Iowa Central in four sets.  They recovered to reel off seven straight wins after that defeat, going into Tuesday's rematch with ICCC.

The Warriors gained the early momentum with a 25-20 first-set win that ended with a kill by freshman Shelby Lauterbach , who was a perfect 19-of-19 hitting on the night.

Iowa Central appeared ready to even the match at a set apiece, taking a 22-18 lead late in the second set.  But the Warriors ran off the final seven points of the set to win 25-22.

The visitors took an early lead in the third set too, but IHCC used a nice run to take control at 17-11 and went on to close out the match, winning 25-19.  A block by freshman Peyton Crosser ended the sweep for Indian Hills.  Crosser led the team with five blocks.

Lauterbach had a team-high 11 kills for the Warriors and Carla Novaes added nine.  Setter Ailime deFreitas had seven digs to go along with 37 assists.

Indian Hills will take its eight-match winning streak to the Kirkwood CC tournament this weekend.
